Whether you’re an individual living with a medical condition or physical disease, the loved one of someone who is, or a person that works with people who are affected by health conditions, PCP knows that you can experience a multitude of various emotions including: depression, loneliness, isolation, despondency, grief, listlessness, fear, sorrow, despair, apathy, anguish, turmoil, anxiety, anger, irritability, frustration, aggravation, helplessness, hopelessness, exhaustion, emptiness, loss, distress, and other feelings.
Living with comorbid medical and psychological issues can be a complicated experience that manifests trauma responses, intensifies physical pain, and exacerbates mental health problems. Changes in identity due to increased dependence on others, decreased autonomy, loss of mobility and impaired physical dexterity, low self-esteem, loss of meaning and purpose in life, cognitive declines, memory impairments, preoccupation with death and dying, increased brooding and rumination, diminished executive functioning and reasoning skills, plus more are just some of the issues patients may experience having. People who are not living with medical conditions but who are loved ones of, or care providers to those who are, can also experience serious issues such as compassion fatigue, mental anguish, emotional turmoil, relationship problems, diminished quality of life, loss of pleasure in things that were once highly enjoyable, grief and loss, anger, anxiety, fear, burnout, and so much more.
Patient Centered Psych understands how to utilize a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities to treat an individual’s unique psychiatric symptom presentation so they can improve their mood, behavior, outlook, energy level, motivation, and overall well-being. PCP believes there is no age limit to which a person can learn how to adopt new coping strategies, gain insight, and implement behavior change. We understand that treating mental health is multidimensional; that no 2 patients’ psychological needs are identical; and that tailoring psych treatment around a person’s capacities and their individualized strengths is essential when facilitating psych services that yield positive results.
